Why do they call me “Buddy the Internet Dog?”
May 27th, 2007Here is how they came up with “Buddy the Internet Dog” for my full name
- It’s simple really - they found me using the internet through HomelessPets.com in the Atlanta area.
- Everyday I sit, lay and sleep at Jeff’s feet while he works on the internet
That’s about it really.
Makes me really glad that Al Gore invented the internet.

Buddy - what a great name! My dog, Angel, went to doggy heaven last month and I miss her dearly. She lived with me for eleven years. She curled up in my arms when I read books and she sat in my lap when I transcribed interviews for a research project. A miniature rat terrier, Angel weighed in at 4.6 lbs, yet she outweighed many other loves in my life.
Buddy, tell your dad and your brothers to take lots of pictures and love you with all their heart.

Hi, Buddy!
Nice to meet you! Woof-woof!
Hey - how do we butt-sniff over the ‘net?
Anyway, my story is a lot like yours. My mommy, Anne, found me on the internet - I was a place called Lollypop Farm, where they took me after they picked me up as a stray. They named me Magoo — yuk! — I’m so glad Mommy & Daddy named me Oliver Bennett, and call me Ollie.
I have a human brother & sister-in-law but they don’t live with us — I hope to see them soon. I also have a big dog-brother, Patches, but I never met him — he’s somewhere Mommy calls the Rainbow Bridge. I don’t understand why Mommy says she hopes it’s a long time before I meet Patches.
In the meantime, I’m very happy with Mommy & Daddy and all the people who come to visit me. I hope you’re very happy, too, in your new forever home.
Oh, Mommy says to tell Jeff that when I eat grass and it makes me sick — that’s on purpose — something is bothering my tummy. I’m so glad the grass here has no lawn chemicals on it!
Mommy says Jeff is a really terrific guy and a great daddy, so I bet he’s a great dog-daddy, too.
Woof-Woof,
Ollie

Buddy, I hope that you won’t take it personally when Jeff says he’s your owner–we all know that people don’t own dogs; rather, they are caretakers of dogs. Still, I know he means well; it sounds as though you have fallen into a genuine soft spot, and I predict that you will be really happy there!
